Bioexpert Network was started in 2017 and is owned by Capital Cell, an alternative investment platform for life sciences and biotech based in Barcelona. Rather than a fee-for-service expert network that clients pay to access, BEN is an invite-only community of life sciences experts - PhD-level scientists, physicians, biotech entrepreneurs, and industry consultants - who evaluate startup pitch decks and R&D proposals submitted to Capital Cell's crowdfunding platform. Experts review each proposal's science, team, and business potential, and only the most positively reviewed projects move forward to a public crowdfunding campaign on Capital Cell. In exchange for reviewing, experts can earn investment credits they can use to invest in the companies they've evaluated, rather than being paid a consulting fee.
