Expert networks and GDPR

25 May 2019 marks the first anniversary for the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This had extensive impacts on the investment research industry.

GDPR for Expert Networks

Whereas many firms have robust processes in place for recruitment, sales and marketing, fewer have addressed more niche cases of processing personal data, such as expert network usage. This applies also to firms in which processing expert data is at the core of their business models: Expert networks identify different responsibilities (e.g. Guidepoint considers itself a Data Processor; GLG considers itself a Data Controller when processing the expert’s personal data), and a majority of users had not yet defined their own role when we surveyed them in January 2019.

Inex One is committed to supporting an efficient and secure knowledge economy. To drive awareness and understanding of the GDPR for the investment research industry, we publish our perspectives in this eBook. Welcome to download it here.
