About TGR Research

TGR Research was founded in 2007 in Paris, France, and focused primarily on French-speaking portions of Europe, including France, Switzerland, and Benelux. At the time of its acquisition, the firm provided access to 8,500 experts.

In September 2009, GLG acquired TGR Research for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition gave GLG a fully staffed Paris office, along with TGR's existing client base and trained staff. France was, and remains, a notoriously difficult market to enter for firms not already established there. The deal fit into GLG's broader European expansion strategy at the time, having already opened offices in London (2004), Zurich (2008), and Dublin (2009). TGR's founders stayed on with GLG following the acquisition.

TGR Research's acquisition is now one of the earliest documented examples of consolidation in the expert network industry, predating many of the larger M&A deals that followed in the 2010s and 2020s.
