In 2011, two senior executives from Toluna co-founded Reimagine Holdings Group, a market research holdings company. They built up several market research businesses including Critical Mix, MarketSight, iGain, and PopResearch, which they sold to Dynata in February 2019. In 2022, they founded ACKWEST to do "management, acquisition and expansion of technology-driven companies in the consumer insights and marketing services sector".

In April 2024, TestSet expanded into Europe, led from London. In June 2025, ACKWEST acquired Safiyo, a mobile-first research platform with proprietary consumer panels across 15+ African countries, further expanding the group's reach into consumer, healthcare, and B2B markets in emerging regions.
